![]() ![]() (Personal experience on other windows software being absolute mares to install.) Some software will run quite happily, think the old Wine used to work on a fair few. You end up spending hours finding a workaround for a particular issue when you could be studying/working towards a projects etc.ĭon't get me wrong I'm not saying it isn't possible as I haven't tried installing it myself, but I wouldn't personally use it for all the issues you would face both in getting it to run and continued use without problems. If you really want to keep using Linux, I suggest dual booting and keep your solidworks on the windows OS.Įven running VMware your going to run into issues which just stop your work full stop. Now I know my way around computers quite well running dual boot/multiple OS's, command line, registry editing etc etc I'd never recommend using Linux for Solidworks. Personally I have used multiple versions of both windows and Linux OS varients, by used I mean using Linux and solely Linux on my home laptop for the accounts, web browsing, films, some games, etc for around 2-3 years, went to put a Linux OS (think it was fedora iirc) on my home pc which I used as a workstation/gaming rig. ![]()
